Right up at the Canadian border lies a lake-filled, woodsy Minnesota park that will have you stocking up on flannels & dreaming of splitting logs for the rest of your life. The smell of woodsmoke, pines, & the eery call of the loon across the water make this picturesque place hard to forget!
Exploring Voyageurs National Park
1. We explored Voyageurs National Park mainly by boat because A. The mosquitos are literal birds of prey on land but were no where to be found on the water. B. I’m afraid of many things but mostly deer ticks & as far as I know they can’t swim. C. This was Jordan’s birthday trip so we fished nonstop. (You definitely could do a lot of great hiking, but I would’ve wanted to have been more prepared with the right gear to avoid the bugs & since we went for a short trip, staying on the water was perfect for us!)
2. We stayed on Kabetogama Lake & it was BEAUTIFUL! There are many resorts on Kab, but you'll want to reserve early to find the best spots.
3. We saw a loon & her baby who jumped on and off her back as the Spirit led. (If you zoom in you can see her lil bb nestled between her wings🫠)
4. We caught Walleye & Smallies & all they ever wanted was leeches.
5. You can now find Earth Clay in the Voyageurs National Park visitor centers!!! This deal has been a WILD dream come true for both of us & we’re so excited to see what woodsy lil necklace you find to commemorate your next trip Up North!
